Type-C dominates the world? Why does Type-C have this qualification?

More and more devices are beginning to use the Type-C interface. As a new universal mainstream interface, the Type-C interface is slowly beginning to dominate the world, from Windows to Mac, to the Android camp, and even those that are struggling to support the Micro-USB interface. Both major manufacturers, VIVO and OPPO, have begun to equip their mobile phones with Type-C interfaces. So what is the magic of Type-C interfaces? Can many manufacturers around the world adopt it?

 

First, we need to understand the origin and characteristics of Type-C. Type-C was ready for mass production in August 2014. The highlights of the new version of the interface are slimmer design, faster transmission speed (up to 10Gbps) and more powerful power transmission (up to 100W). The biggest feature of the Type-C double-sided pluggable interface is that it supports double-sided insertion of the USB interface. Similar to the Lighting interface, it solves the problem of "USB can never be plugged in correctly". At the same time, the USB data cable used with it must also be thinner and lighter.

 

Why does Apple also use Type-C interface? There is even news that Apple will abandon the existing Lighting interface in future mobile phones and switch to Type-C. The important reason is that the Lightning interface has too few pins and has major flaws in its definition, such as charging. The Lighting interface only has one pin responsible for charging, which means that it cannot charge with high current and cannot use higher-power fast charging technology.

 

Moreover, after the Type-C interface is integrated with Thunderbolt 3, it can provide extremely high bandwidth, and coupled with high power, it can achieve N multiple styles of expansion.

 

However, Type-C is not omnipotent. It still has to drag a long line. The future of our equipment should still develop in the direction of wireless, whether it is charging, display or even data transmission. However, for a period of time, stable wired transmission will still be the mainstream, and Type-C, as a universal multi-functional interface, will continue to play a role in various devices.
